these was the best headset I have ever had, until today when one speaker just stopped. they only have a 1 year warranty so there is nothing I can do. there is no obvious disconnected wires, everything looks to be in perfect shape and yet one side does not work.
very disappointed, I knew it only had a 1 year warranty most do, but i expected them to last a lot longer for over 100$. not sure what to do about a replacement now...
I am an avid gamer and am constantly being yelled at over my loud game volume so i decided to buy these. And im glad i did i can now listen as loud as i want and not disturb anyone. Also they give me a huge advantage because i can hear where people are before they even see me. Only complaint is that the microphone wire broke on me after about 3 months and i took extremely good care of it after all it is 100 dollars. But tech support was very helpful and sent a replacement free of charge. Not bad for not having a warranty or guarantee now thats what i call service.
Awesome, no problems at all. Nice to finally be able to use the surround sound and optical out. This really helps when I play halo, picking up vehicular noise from different directions is a snap. Would definitly buy this agani.
Pros:
The headphones are really good for gaming. You can hear things from all around you and tell where footsteps are coming from. So, if you're just looking to play games with them they're awesome. Another plus is that I don't think you could buy a better mic. It's perfectly clear.
Con:
For sound quality though, music sounds a little like it's being played in a tin can. It lacks a good bass.
Overall I'm happy with the purchase, they serve the purpose I got them for and were a fairly cheap solution.
The head set had great sound but after two weeks the wire which attaches to the headset broke from movement. It is way to thin a wire. I returned them and may get the more expensive unit after seeing the wires
Don't pay attention to all those people, who say it crackles when no sound is playing. Who cares..nothing is playing yet. You can hear everything in Gears of War 2. Even watching movies is amazing now! Do not pass these up, great for anyone looking for a cheap way of getting 5.1 SS.
Yes, it really is amazing the level of sound quality of these headphones. The level of realism that makes it a target player in the game and have fun like going to the scene.
Was not happy with this product. Thought it would be able to be connected to the XBOX 360 with no problems it did not work! Would not recommend it for this purpose!
This is my second one. My kids ripped the cord out of the first and I stepped on it, breaking the mic off. I use this for gaming and I can tell exactly where the sounds are coming from. Being able to adjust the center channel separate from the front and rear is key for hearing other gamer voices over ambient noise from the other channels (or not hearing them).
Got these for myself instead of grabbing one of the Turtle Beach headsets because of the 5.1 functionality and I had heard interference was a problem with wireless headsets.
Sound: Sound quality is fairly decent. At first you certainly notice that it's not quite as good as regular speakers, stuff sounds a bit "hollow" in comparison, like you're listening to stuff in a gigantic metal container, but you quickly get used to it and forget the difference. Every once in awhile you'll hear a couple strange beeps and boops that resemble the inside of a spaceship, but they're infrequent and only noticeable when the sound is quiet. There's three different adjustments for volume, front, center, and rear, and a fourth for vibration. The vibration is basically there to help simulate bass, and it feels great at higher settings, though hardly noticeable at lower ones.
Build: The headphones are definitely solid and not fragile. The top bar is padded, which is nice. The bar is easily adjustable for size but it locks well so it won't loosen and adjust on its own either. They're a tad heavy which can put some pressure on the ears after a few hours but nothing painful. The detachable mic is kind of dinky small but not easily breakable. Minor gripe is that in order to use the mic, there's a detachable cord that plugs into the mic that works as a bit of an extender. That can be convenient so you don't have to take the mic on and off all the time but it also could be easy to lose. The cord for the headset is just long enough to reach from my 360 to my couch, so it's not much of a problem for me that it's not wireless. Those that sit far away from their 360 could run into trouble, although I imagine most people won't have a problem with the cord length.
IMPORTANT NOTE - TO USE THIS HEADSET ON YOUR XBOX 360 - YOU NEED THESE:
1.) A high-definition television that accepts HDMI.
2.) An XBOX 360 that includes an HDMI port.
3.) An XBOX 360 Audio Adapter
4.) Any HDMI cable
If you don't have ALL four of these, this headset will be worthless to you. Some older model 360's do not have HDMI ports, so check that first. The XB360 Audio Adapter comes free with any XBOX360 Elite, but you can also buy it bundled with an official Microsoft HDMI cable for around $50. This audio adapter is required because the headset uses an optical audio cable for sound and this adapter is the only way you can get optical audio on your 360. This adapter also plugs into the standard cable hookup slot for the 360, which means that you have to use an HDMI cable for your video on your 360. If you didn't understand a word I just said, don't buy this headset because otherwise you're going to be totally confused when it arrives.
