I bought this adapter over a year ago for my 360. My wireless router is a floor down, and I don't remember ever having to do anything but plug it into my 360 and the wall and configure it from there. Once you set it to "IN" using the button on the side, you'll be able to connect to the internet. The biggest problem with this adapter is that it is wireless-B. That means that YOU WILL HAVE LAG. I bet most of the people who say that this works perfectly haven't even used it for more than a day or two... I've used it for over a year. Thankfully, whenever you start experiencing major lag (and you WILL), all you have to do is take a paper clip and hit the reset button on the side of the adapter, and reset it to "IN" and you'll be good to go. The lag will hit anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours into a session.
That said, if you don't mind having to get up and reset this unit every so often, it's a steal. But if you want unhindered, and mostly lag-free gaming online this is not for you.
This is the most useless investment i've ever made. If your going to get the wireless gaming adapter just spend the extra money and get the microsoft version because when your in the heat of battle about to kill someone on call of duty or about to win a race on midnight club just about the most frustrating thing in the world to see is CONNECTION INTERUPTED! Anyway if i was you i would spend my money elsewhere.
This is a good network adapter if you dont want to spend the money for the microsoft network adapter. only thing is that you need to add the adapter to your router through your pc. if you know how get into your router settings, then all you have to do is add the xbox and the adapter to the router. to do this, you need to add the MAC Code that is provided on the back of the adapter, and the xbox will provide you it's own when your going through the configuration process. one thing i do realize is that i have to go and refresh the MAC addresses for the xbox and the network adapter in order to get on to xbox live. if i find anything else about this ill post it on here. but for the most part, i have my own xbox and my wife's xbox right next to each other with the same wireless adapters on both consoles. I started to play COD4, burnout paradise, and halo 3 with my wife online at the same time, and i never saw a lag in any of the game play. this is the best and cheapest way to get a wireless capability without spending alot for something that does the same thing as this does.
Works like published and has been working for sometime now on my sons Xbox. I have seen it on the floor various times and it usually stands about 3 feet from it! Installation and setup was easy and product reliability has certainly been tested by my son and his friends...
I REALLY THOUGHT IT MIGHT NOT BE COMPATIBLE WITH THE XBOX 360 BUT I WAS WRONG IT WORKS JUST FINE. I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS, NO LAG JUST FUN,FUN,FUN. FEW WORDS OF ADVICE, MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW THE INSTALL DIRECTIONS TO THE BONE. HAPPY GAMING
I have been using this item for about a month and it works great with my xbox 360 every now and then i lose connection but it is not that long 5 to 10 min. but if parents are looking for a cheaper way to get there kids ethernet this is it this product is perfect it installs in 10 min. very simple.
i've used this thing for almomst 4 years with my xbox and xbox 360. no problems whatsoever.
you don't need wireless-g or -n for gaming. your max upload speed with cable or dsl is likely less that 1 mb/s, or roughly 10% of wireless-b. everything else is overkill (and overpriced).
I use this with my 360 and it works just fine. I can stream video,music,and download stuff from xbl with out any problems and setup is as simple as plugging it in and then pushing the blue button until the lcd screen says In.
Also on the 360 you can select what network you want to connect to if there is more than 1 available by going in to the setup menu and selecting edit network settings.
does fine on my original xbox and my xbox360. no installing. just cant choose a certain access point with it.
