Everyone who's tried to watch TV, play Xbox 360, play Wii, watch a movie etc. at my house has complained about all the remotes. I've resisted getting a universal remote because the ones I've tried in the past never worked well enough for me to put the other remotes away. I've heard good things about Logitech's Harmony remotes, but they are kind of pricey. When I started streaming movies on my Xbox 360, I decided to check out the Harmony remotes again. Well for $69 the Harmony for Xbox 360 seemed perfect.

Setting it up was a breeze. It now controls these devices:
Mitsubishi TV, Pioneer AV Receiver, TiVo PVR, Motorola Digital Cable Box, Philips DVD player, and XBox 360. I added my Nintendo Wii, but unfortunately Nintendo uses bluetooth so the Harmony can't control it. On the plus side, I was able to create an "Activity" for playing Wii which changes the TV's video source properly.

Speaking of Activities, this feature works great. As you would expect choosing an activity like "Watch DVD", turns on the TV, makes sure it is on the right video source, turns on the AV receiver, makes sure it's on the right audio source, and turns on the DVD player. Each activity will have the right combination of buttons controlling the various devices correctly. For instance, after choosing the "Watch DVD" activity, the volume buttons control the AV receiver and the navigation buttons control the DVD player. Also, the LCD screen displays custom soft keys pertaining to watching DVDs (Eject, Chap+, Chap-, Zoom, Subtitle, Audio, etc).

The software works really well. After you enter your devices and choose the activities you want programmed, it walks you through updating the remote. Customizing devices, activities, buttons, etc. is really easy. The default activities work great, but I've been tweaking quite a bit. The software saves all of your configuring so if you have to replace or upgrade your remote you can just transfer your settings.

As you can tell, I really like this product. It has made my life so much easier (and visiting TV watchers happy too).

I was a bit hesitant purchasing a tech product that was originally released a couple years ago (2005/2006) but have been completely satisfied with it so far. This remote significantly simplifies my TV setup - eliminating the need to constantly switch between four different remotes for different functions.

I'm using it with a Samsung LN40A550 40" LCD, Samsung HTA100T DVD/speaker system, Comcast/Motorola 3412 DVR, and XBOX 360. This remote works perfectly with all of these. I'm love the ability to completely customize exactly what appears in the LCD options menu and the ability to reorder specific functions.

Bottom line: if you're looking at this product you've probably invested a significant amount of money in your home AV setup. Why not pay $70 bucks to make your devices work together seamlessly?

The guy who installed my TV recommended this and I wondered why he spoke so highly of a remote. I mean, it's just a remote, right? I could go on and on, sounding just like my installer, but instead I'll say you won't fully appreciate the Logitech remotes until you have one. They're very easy to program and customize and once you do, you hit one button and the thing does all the work, turning on all the gadgets that need to be turned on to watch TV, a DVD, play a video game, etc. -- and all the gadgets automatically flip to the correct settings so you're ready to go (example: your TV input automatically will jump to the DVD input for watching DVDs and the video game input for playing games). The remote also "learns" commands from your original remotes, meaning in most cases you'll be able to ditch all the other remotes and just use that for your home theater. It even controls my Apple TV.

Este si es un producto excelente, se pueden personalizar todos los botones. Permite agragar comandos con el control original. Si no esta la referencia de tu aparato el busca una referencia similar. lo recomiendo 100%

Highly recommended, super easy to use, controls all my devices(TV, HDDVD, receiver, 360, and cable box with PVR). Even those who are not electronics saavy will have no problems with remote. It's worth the $130 easy, but for $71.25 shipped you should not pass this one up.

I got the remote yesterday when I got home from work. aside from having to use a chainsaw to get into the package i have nothing but good things to say about this remote.

the instructions were easy to follow and it took about 15 mins to be up and running. i tested it out several times and the tv function wasnt working so i hit help and tried again and it worked. then the remote asked me if this fixed it. i said yes and it works perfect now.

When i replace my TV and DVD player and add a stereo i will reprogram the remote and now that i know how easy it is i wont second guess the process and it will only take about 2 mins to set up. it took the most time finding the model #'s on the products.

I have never spent more than $10 on a universal remote. but i decided it was time to take the plunge and get an expensive one, and man did i make the right choice with this remote.

I am on on-line shopper and this is the first review i have ever written on a product.

I LOVE THIS REMOTE!!! and hopefully, you will too.

This remote is awesome! I initially purchased it because I was tired of not being able to control my 360 and TV volume from the same remote. The harmony remote works great with our two 360s and has no issues going between them (they are in different rooms). Even better, I just set up my Roomba on the remote!

Would definitely recommend this remote, especially over the basic 360 remote.

I was able to get all but 3 items programmed with this remote. Otherwise, its a pretty powerful remote, and works as a Xbox 360 remote flawlessly. The 2 items...

1) I cannot seem to get the remote, when you change "activities", is to transform into the receiving activity remote - it gives you basic commands, but not the entire component's programmed commands...it takes switching to the component's remote setup - 2 extra buttons - this is for going from "Watch 360" and "Watch TV" - it should just switch to the component's programming, not the activity's programming

2) I cannot get the power on/off to hit only the two components I want it to

other than those 2, excellent remote at a great price.

I compared all the other harmony remotes before I bought this, but what really made the decision for me was that I have an Xbox 360 and I wanted a remote which took AA or AAA batteries so that I could use my Next Generation Remote Control Extender. For less than $100 I have been able to put together a formidable RF remote that can control every component (except my Wii). The Next Gen Extender works flawlessly with this remote, and I feel like I made the right choice. Here are some of the factors that went into my decision.

In my scenario, I had to have RF on my remote, because all my components are stashed in a closet out of range of IR.

I liked the interface and touchscreen of the Logitech Harmony One Advanced Universal Remote but it lacked RF, and there was no real way to turn it into a RF remote. The Logitech Harmony 880 Advanced Universal Remote Control (Black) (One's predecessor) was a little cheaper, but had the same RF limitation.

The Logitech Harmony 890 Advanced Universal Remote Control and Logitech Harmony 1000 Advanced Universal Remote (Silver) have RF, but at almost $300 that was more I wanted to spend on a remote. Especially the 890 which has been out for several years, and will likely be retired soon. The 1000 is just too big and clunky for my (and especially my wife's tastes).

The Logitech Harmony 550 Universal Remote and Logitech Harmony 520 Advanced Universal Remote - universal remote control ( 966191-0403 ) (close relatives of the xbox 360 remote) were both in the running, and would have worked with my RF extender; however since I have an Xbox 360 I decided to go with the 360 remote.

One of the things which always killed me about my previous "universal" remotes was that when the activity failed, I either had to dig through menus or have the original remote near to turn on/off a single component, or otherwise fix the step in the activity which failed. The "Help" button on the Logitech remote is a welcome feature, and has completely removed my need to keep the other remotes nearby.

I read reviews for other remotes that praised that the remote could be setup without a computer, and that the harmony remotes sucked because you had to use your computer. Really I don't know how you would customize something this complex on a 1 inch screen. I like the configuration utility. It has a wizard mode which gets the basic settings and activities setup, and then you can go back through and tweak/fine tune via the advanced settings.

The activities are easy to setup, and the wizard knows how to create the 4-5 that you will want to setup immediately. I especially like that my wife can watch a movie in surround sound without me having to show her how to turn on the receiver and change the inputs.

I was also a little worried about the XYAB button, because I read a review that I was giving up buttons that are on the other Harmony remotes. I didn't realize that for non-xbox activities/devices I can assign those buttons to whatever I want. I don't feel like I gave up anything.

In the end, I love this remote. It's the only universal remote I've owned which was really universal (except for the Wii).
