Plan on keeping your 360 somewhat near to your television, this isn't the world's longest cable, but the quality is great, it has component hookups and also works as a regular hook up. This is the least expensive cable I could find on the internet and for the money it is fantastic. Amazon must have sent it right away because I got it within 3 days despite choosing "super saver shipping." I've had it for over a month now and I'm 100% satisfied. Just pay attention to the length and make sure that you don't plan on placing your 360 a long distance away (i.e. outside your entertainment system would probably be too far,) although most people keep their entertainment peripherals in the vicinity of their TV anyway so this shouldn't be a problem for 99% of users.

This component video cable for the Xbox 360 does not provide digital audio. While it does have a hole/slot to plug an optical audio cable into, the slot does not work. I plugged an optical audio cable into the slot, and ran the other end to my digital audio/video receiver. Low and behold, NO digital audio! Do yourself a favor and buy another version of the cable (such as the Microsoft version) if you plan on using digital audio with your Xbox 360. When I used the MS version of the cable the digital audio works great! On a positive note, the component video for this cable does work if that's all you need.

This is completly mislabled. HDMI is a plug that looks like an oversized USB cable. ONLY NEWER HD SETS even have an HDMI slot. HDMI is a newer form of the Digital DVI cable seen on many PC video cards.



Component HD cables which come with the XBOX 360, even though they produce true HD, are only an ANALOGUE cable.



HDMI is a DIGITAL HD cable.



It's like the difference between a coaxal audio and an optical audio cable. Both can produce true 5.1 surround sound but one is analogue, the other is digital.



As far as I know, there is no HDMI cables on the market for the 360 yet. I found this mislabled product while searching for the release date of the HDMI cable.

I bought these cables right before the Xbox 360 came out. Soon afterwards, I hooked it up and couldn't get the digital audio to work. The receiver noticed it was getting a signal, but apparently the cable was corrupting it. Don't waste the money on these. Spend the money on first party accessories.

I didn't see any reviews on this product and having owned it for 7 months now I figured I would provide some feedback to any potential buyers. This was a birthday present and I am not sure what the price was at that time but it has gone down quite a bit since then. My main purpose in asking for this component was to have a portable hard drive that I could use for my Playstation 3 since that drive is only 60GB and fills up rather quickly with all the demos and videos I download. I use this hard drive mostly to transfer movies on it from my PC so I can watch them on my TV through the PS3 (in DivX format). So far I have not had any issues with it and it works great everytime I plug it in. A green light comes on when it receives power so you know when it is on. The noise from the hard drive itself is not loud and it makes a beeping sound to let you know if it is not connected properly. Although the price has come down on external drives and one with a larger capacity can be found, I couldn't be more satisfied with this one. Eventually I will replace it with a bigger one, but have yet to fill it up. The transfer rate to me seems very quick and I use it with Windows Vista, which has not presented any issues. The drive is very small, thin, lightweight, and easily fits in your pocket. A USB cord is included which allows connection between the drive and two devices, which I thought was nice. There is no pre-installed software that I wouldn't use anyway; as most companies are starting to include this with their products now. As I mentioned, I am completly satisfied with this product and have been familair with Iomega products for a while. Thanks!

I bought two of these because they were really cheap at radio shack. Though I had to resolder one of them they are fine as S-Video cables if you don't need digital output. However, the optical audio output DOES NOT WORK ON EITHER CABLE. There is clearly a reason why these cables were $3.00 each at radio shack.



To double check I switched to the component cables that come with the xbox 360 and the digital audio worked fine.



I posted this review because I want to make it clear that the optical audio does not work on these cables. It's not that the four other people with problems don't know how to plug a cable in.

People really need to realize that the optical audio output on this 360 S-video cable does indeed work, you just need to apply some fingernail pressure to pry out the protective plastic cover, connect a separate optical audio cable and you're good to go with the digital sorround sound. [...] Regarding the quality of the cable, the picture you get (I still use a 27" CRT standard def TV) is not quite as bright or contrasty as with the component cable, but this really isn't a big issue unless you are using an HD TV and in that case you will not get a good high def picture from an S-video cable anyway. This product works well with a SD TV and is a better connection than composite RCA cables. If you have your 360 hooked up to a standard def TV and your component cable goes out like mine did, then this item is a good cost-effective replacement.

The Optical Digital Output on this cable was designed prior to the Xbox 360 being released. IT DOES NOT WORK. From reading other complaints on the Microsoft Forums apparently none of them work. The S-Video is fine but if you intend to use this product for digital audio do not buy it. Pelican should recall the cables but I haven't heard any hint of an intent to do so and I can't get a response from their 24/7 tech support on the issue.

Before you buy it do a search on the "Red Ring of Death" (RRoD), Or just anything about "flashing red lights" and "xbox 360". They should put a warning in their ads or something. I got the RRoD, I know a few people who got the RRoD, and I don't really know too many people with an xbox 360. Based on that and just all the other people an internet search will show have gotten the problem, makes it seem to me like a common problem. Basically if you see those lights there's something wrong with your system and you can't play it. Sure there is a 3yr warranty to fix it, from what I understand only for the 3 red lights. Only 1yr for the 2 red lights, supposed 'overheating' fault, which I eventually got during a 10min game session and continue to get every once in a while. Even still with the warranty you have to send your system in to get it repaired or replaced with a refurbished system, which takes about a month to get resolved. It's pretty annoying paying so much for a system and not being able to play it. The problem is common enough I'm not putting any more money into their system. All I'm trying to do is warn you of something I didn't know, other than that the quality of it's games is fine. Same old same old, just flashier graphics, as expected. I'm just frustrated with Xbox and I'm going to try and not spend any more money on Xbox and save up to get a PS3. If you're looking for something new and original get a wii, other than that for graphics and more mature games get PS3. Anyways I just think people should know the risks they're taking, maybe by now the problem has been addressed with a better answer than a warranty extension, but I'm just telling you my experience.
